Leading an organization or a large team can be an extraordinarily lonely existence. This is especially true if you are a founder - even if you have co-founders.

It's nearly impossible for others, sometimes even your closest loved ones, to understand the scope, scale, and urgency of your challenges. I do. Because I've been there.

I’ve worked with hundreds of leaders backed by top-tier funds such as Y Combinator, General Catalyst, Andreessen Horowitz, Mucker Capital, Lightspeed, Techstars, Bessemer, Draper, IAC, and more. I've also worked with bootstrapped founders/CEOs, corporate executives, and even scientists.

I've been there too.

During my career to date, I’ve lived, studied, and worked in five countries. And I’ve done business and spent meaningful time in many more. I’ve seen a lot and done a lot, failing and succeeding along the way. Most importantly I’ve learned a ton.

I began my career at Time Warner, where I helped to open and build the Asia operations for Turner Broadcasting. And then I ran Time Inc. across the Asia Pacific.

For much of the last 20 years, I was based in Asia.

During my time in Asia, I was co-founder and CEO of two companies, both of which went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. I’ve had all the ups – and downs – of building businesses as a founder and senior executive.

I’ve raised angel funding, struggled to meet payroll, raised venture capital, scaled like crazy, hired and managed large teams, built boards, done lots of M&A, conducted layoffs, raised private equity, and public capital. I've made some bad decisions - and some good ones too.
